Frequently Asked Questions

How do I compare two stocks?

Type two or more tickers or company names into the box above. The comparison lines them up on valuation, growth, profitability, financial health, shareholder returns, price performance, risk, analyst estimates and institutional ownership, and scores each company against its industry peers.

How many stocks can I compare at once?

Up to 3 companies side by side for free, and up to 10 with a Business Quant subscription.

What do the percentile scores mean?

Each metric is ranked against the company's industry group (or its sector, or the whole market, if you choose). A score of 80 means the company does better than 80% of its peers on that measure, where "better" is lower for valuation multiples and leverage and higher for growth, margins and returns.

How often is the comparison data updated?

Prices, market values and valuation multiples update every trading day. Financial statement figures update as companies file their 10-Q and 10-K reports with the SEC, and consensus estimates update as analysts revise them.

Can I compare stocks in the same industry on a chart?

Yes. The industry scatter chart plots every company in an industry on two metrics of your choice, such as P/E against revenue growth, and handles outliers so one extreme value does not flatten the chart.
