Visa witnessed the lowest payments volume share of 2.49% in 2020 from this region. Canada region also shows the lowest payments volume growth of 5.20% from $269 billion in 2019 to $283 billion in 2020.
Europe
Visa’s payments volume grew 29.38% in Europe region from $1,705 billion in 2019 to $2,206 billion in 2020. This region contributed 19.44% of payments volume share in 2020.
Latin America and Caribbean (LAC)
Visa witnessed the second-highest payments volume growth of 98.10% on a year-on-year basis from the LAC region. The payments volume increases from $422 billion in 2019 to $836 billion in 2020. In 2020, this region contributed only 7.37 % of total payments volume.
United States
The United States contributed the highest payments volume share of 41.21% amounting to $4676 billion in the year 2020. Visa’s payments volume grew 18.29% in this region from $3953 billion in 2019 to $4676 billion in 2020.
In the fiscal year, 2020 Visa’s total credit payment volume in the United States region was $1957 billion which decreased by 4.67% from the fiscal year 2019. Whereas Visa’s total debit payment volume was $2128 billion in the fiscal year 2020 which grew by 12.24% year-over-year from the fiscal year 2019.
