  • OptumInsight: OptumInsight segment offers data analytics, consulting, research, technology, and managed services solutions. OptumInsight helps to improve performance, advance quality, meet compliance mandates, achieve efficiency, modernize core operating systems, and reduce costs.

OptumInsight’s products and services are sold essentially through a direct sales force, an array of alliances, and business partnerships with other technology vendors, that integrate and interface OptumInsight’s products with their applications.

In Q1 2021, revenue from OptumInsight segment contributed only 3% to the total revenue amounting to $2.85 billion. The revenue has increased by 14% year-over-year from $2.49 billion in Q1 2020. Revenue from operations at OptumInsight increased primarily due to growth in technology and managed services.

  • OptumRx: This segment provides a diversified array of pharmacy care services through its network of more than 67,000 retail pharmacies, speciality, community health pharmacies, multiple home delivery, and pharmacy infusion services. OptumRx administers limited and ultra-limited distribution drugs in oncology, pain management, HIV, pain management, and ophthalmology and meets the growing pharmacy required with behavioural health and disorders. OptumRx offers multiple clinical programs, digital tools, and services to help clients manage overall pharmacy and health care costs to promote better health outcomes. OptumRx renders various medication management, utilization management, quality assurance, adherence, and counselling programs to complement each client’s plan design and clinical strategies. OptumRx integrates medical and pharmaceutical care management by using data and advanced analytics, which helps improve comprehensive decision-making, close gaps in care, elevate quality, and reduce costs for customers.

In Q1 2021, revenue from OptumRx contributed 23% to the total revenue amounting to $21.6 billion. However, the revenue has not changed since Q1 2020.

  • UnitedHealthcare: Revenue from this segment is the aggregate of revenue from UnitedHealthcare Employer & Individual, UnitedHealthcare Medical & Retirement, UnitedHealthcare Community & State, and UnitedHealthcare Global. UnitedHealthcare Employer & Individual offers consumer-oriented health benefit plans and services to large national players, individuals, small businesses, mid-size employers, and public sector employers. UnitedHealthcare Community & State provides healthcare services to economically disadvantaged and medically underserved people. UnitedHealthcare Global provides health benefits, hospital benefits, clinical services, and dental benefits to individuals as well as employer groups in South America and other diversified global health businesses.

In Q1 2021, revenue from UnitedHealthcare contributed 60% to the total revenue amounting to $55.11 billion. The revenue has increased by 8% year-over-year from $51.07 billion in Q1 2020. This makes it the key driver behind United Healthcare’s Revenue by Segment.
