The corporation divides its activities into two reportable parts in line with Segment Reporting. Sirius XM and Pandora are two complementary radio entertainment companies.
In the United States, the Sirius XM company offers subscription-based music, sports, entertainment, comedy, discussion, news, traffic, and weather channels, as well as podcasts and infotainment services. Sirius XM packages contain live, curated, and exclusive programming, as well as on-demand content. Our two unique satellite radio systems deliver the Sirius XM service, which is streamed via apps for mobile devices, home devices, and other consumer electronic equipment. Automakers, merchants, and our website are the primary sources of satellite radios. Our Sirius XM service may also be accessed through our “360L” user interface, which blends our satellite and streaming services into a single, seamless in-vehicle entertainment experience.
Pandora is a music, comedy, and podcast streaming discovery platform that provides each listener with a tailored experience wherever and whenever they want to listen, whether through mobile devices, vehicle speakers, or linked devices. Pandora allows users to build personalized stations and playlists, discover new material, listen to artists and expert-curated playlists, podcasts, and Sirius XM programming, and search and play songs and albums on-demand. Pandora offers three types of subscription services: (1) ad-supported radio, (2) a radio subscription service (Pandora Plus), and (3) an on-demand subscription service (Pandora Premium).
Subscription fees are Sirius XM’s principal source of revenue, with the majority of its consumers opting for monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or yearly subscriptions. Advertising on non-music channels, which is offered under the SXM Media brand, direct sales of satellite radios and accessories, and other auxiliary services all contribute to the company’s bottom line. The Sirius XM company has roughly 34.3 million customers as of September 30, 2021.
Pandora’s main source of revenue is the sale of audio, display, and video advertising for linked device platforms such as PCs and mobile devices. The SXM Media brand is used to sell their money-making ad-supported radio service. Pandora Plus and Pandora Premium subscribers generate subscription money as well. Pandora had around 6.5 million members as of September 30, 2021.
Total Consolidated Revenue was $8,696 million and $8,040 million, respectively, for the years ended December 31, 2021 and 2020, an increase of 8%, or $656 million.
Subscription, advertising, and other income may suffer as a result of competition. The firm is concerned about their capacity to compete successfully with current and future rivals, as well as if competition will have a negative impact on our sales and financial situation.
The results of operations will be harmed if the company is unable to continue revenue growth from advertising solutions, particularly in mobile advertising.
The auto sector contributes significant revenue. Used vehicle sales bring in a significant amount of new clients to the satellite radio industry. The continued availability of this data is critical, and its removal might result in a loss of income.
Sirius XM Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: SIRI) is North America’s largest audio entertainment corporation. Sirius Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio amalgamated to establish SiriusXM Radio in 2008, becoming SiriusXM Radio. Sirius XM Canada, an affiliate firm that offers Sirius and XM service in Canada, owns a 70% equity stake in the corporation. SiriusXM’s subscription and digital advertising-supported audio platforms each have their own distinct programming and material. SiriusXM’s platforms reach more than 150 million listeners across all digital audio genres – music, sports, talk, and podcasts – making it the largest digital radio provider in North America.
