This statistic highlights Schrodinger Inc’s Annual Contract Value (ACV), reported annually starting with the year 2020.
What is Annual Contract Value (ACV)?
Annual Contract Value (ACV) can be defined as the average annual revenue generated from each customer contract. It does not include any one-time fees. It is basically the subscription revenue, averaged out across one year. To find out the Annual Contract Value (ACV), we first have to find out the total contract value, excluding any on-time fees. Once we find the total contract value, we then divide this figure by the total number of years in the contract. The figure thus obtained will be the Annual Contract Value. For example, if a customer has signed a contract of $25,000 over 5 years, then to find the annual contract value, we will average it out. The Annual Contract Value in this example would be $5,000.
The Annual Contract Value (ACV) isn’t a very useful metric when seen in isolation. However it can be of great use when compared to other metrics. Most companies compare their Annual Contract Value (ACV) to their Customer Acquisition Cost, to find out how long it’s going to take them to recover the cost of customer acquisition. The Annual Contract Value (ACV) differs for different types of businesses. B2C businesses like Spotify and Netflix have low ACV, resulting in high number of customers. Whereas, B2B businesses like Salesforce have high ACV, resulting in low number of customers.
