Peloton Inc. has two reportable regions – North America and International, through which it generates revenue. On a QoQ basis, the total revenue generated from both regions increased by 40.8%. This huge increase in the QoQ percentage growth was due to a revenue decline during Q4 2021 and Q1 2022. Hence, on a YoY basis, there is a significantly low increase in the total revenue generated, with an increase of only 6.5%, as Q2 2022 was just a recovery from the shortfall.

North America

The company currently has plans to set up manufacturing and assembly capabilities in North America with facilities in Washington and North Carolina through the acquisition of Precor. They recently even announced plans to build a manufacturing facility in Ohio called Peloton Output Park. To date, the manufacturing and assembly of products was outsourced to multiple contract manufacturers in Asia.

The shortfall in Peloton’s revenue was primarily due to a decline in the revenue generated from this region. On a QoQ basis, the total revenue from North America increased by 42%. However, there was a growth of only 2.7%, on a YoY basis.

International

The regions other than North America are included here. Peloton intends to develop localized content as they continue to expand internationally. They have already achieved this in the U.K. and Germany, wherein they featured five British and three German instructors from their London studio. Recently, they even onboarded their first Australian instructor, with the launch of their Australian operations. With their international expansion, they even intend to launch classes in local languages, and currently provide services in English, German, and Spanish.

The revenue from this region has increased exponentially. On a QoQ basis, there was an increase of 29.4%. Even on a YoY basis, there was an increase of 73.5% in the revenue generated. However, this revenue, which is generated from the sales in foreign currency, is subject to fluctuations in the exchange rate and hence, the company partially hedges itself.

Peloton Interactive, Inc., listed on the NASDAQ with the ticker PTON, is an American exercise equipment and media company based in New York City. It is the largest interactive fitness platform in the world with a customer base of over 5.9 million members as of June 30, 2021. The company provides a subscription-based platform that seamlessly combines the best equipment, proprietary networked software, and digital streaming fitness and wellness content. The instructors appointed, teach across a variety of fitness and wellness disciplines, including indoor cycling, yoga, meditation, stretching, strength training, floor cardio, and many others.

The company primarily generates revenue from the sale of Connected Fitness products and associated recurring Subscription revenue. Connected Fitness products consist of Bike, Bike+, Tread, and Tread+. Subscription revenue is generated from Connected Fitness Subscriptions and through Peloton Digital.
