Interest Bearing Deposit
Interest-bearing deposits, such as savings accounts or certificates of deposit (CDs), are financial products offered by banks to individuals and businesses. These accounts allow customers to deposit funds and earn interest on their balances over time. The interest rates offered on these accounts can vary based on various factors, including market conditions, the type of account, the amount deposited, and the duration of the deposit. Generally, savings accounts tend to offer lower interest rates compared to CDs, which typically have fixed interest rates for a specified term.
Non-interest Bearing Deposit
A non-interest-bearing deposit is a deposit account where the funds deposited do not earn any interest. The purpose of such accounts is to provide a safe place for customers to store their funds while maintaining liquidity. It is common for banks to offer non-interest-bearing deposit accounts alongside their interest-bearing accounts. Non-interest-bearing deposit accounts typically do not earn any interest on the deposited funds. However, they may offer other benefits, such as convenient access to funds through various channels like ATMs, online banking, and check-writing capabilities.
