This statistic highlights Magnite’s Revenue Breakdown Worldwide, split across CTV, Desktop, and Mobile, reported on a quarterly basis from Q1 onwards.

Magnite, Inc. provides a technological solution for buyers and sellers to automate the acquisition and sale of digital advertising inventory. Several of the world’s leading suppliers and purchasers of digital advertising inventory are among the Company’s clients.

Magnite’s Revenue Breakdown Worldwide

Channel Revenue in Q4 2019 Revenue in Q3 2020 Revenue in Q4 2020 Revenue Share in Q4 2020
Desktop $20.56 $20.90 $27.49 34%
Mobile $27.93 $29.02 $39.17 48%
CTV $11.06 $15.34 19%
Total $48.49 $60.98 $82.00 100%

(All figures in millions, except percentages)

Magnite generates revenue by buying and selling digital advertising inventory on its marketplace. They also generate revenue by charging customers a fee for using their Demand Manager software, which is typically a percentage of the client’s advertising expenditure on any advertising marketplace. They recognize revenue when their contractual responsibilities in connection with a completed transaction are met, subject to all other revenue recognition requirements being met.

Magnite’s total revenue grew from $48.49 million in Q4 2019 to $82 million in Q4 2020, marking a 69% growth on a year-on-year basis. It also witnessed a 34% increase from $60.98 million earned in Q3 2020. The revenue rise was driven by the Telaria Merger, which was finalized on April 1, 2020, which contributed $18.5 million, as well as revenue improvements in our desktop and mobile businesses in Q4 2020.

Desktop

Magnite’s revenue from the Desktop channel grew by 34% from $20.56 million in Q4 2019 to $27.49 million in Q4 2020. It also increased by 32% compared to $20.90 million earned in Q3 2020.  Magnite’s desktop accounted for 34% of the company’s revenue in Q4 2020. Lower desktop industry growth rates will make generating desktop revenue more difficult. Nevertheless, Magnite may be able to develop its desktop business above industry predictions in the future by grabbing market share through SPO and expanding publisher partnerships. In the future, the desktop business’s share in the company’s revenue is expected to decrease.

Mobile

Magnite’s mobile business is divided into two parts, mobile web, and mobile applications. Initially, their mobile business was mainly composed of mobile web, which is comparable to their desktop business, but their mobile application business has been the primary growth engine for their mobile business.

In Q4 2020, Magnite’s revenue from Mobile stood at $39.17 million. It was a 40% growth compared to $27.93 million earned in Q4 2019 and a 35% increase compared to $29.02 million earned in Q3 2020. Mobile contributed to 48% of Magnite’s revenue in Q4 2020. Magnite’s mobile business is projected to expand faster than the desktop business. The growth in mobile is driven mostly by mobile applications and, in particular, mobile video.

CTV

Connected TV advertising (CTV) is advertising that appears on any television that can link to the internet. Following the Telaria merger and SpotX Acquisition, Magnite has become one of the world’s largest independent omnichannel sell-side advertising platforms, providing a single partner for transacting globally across all channels, formats, and auction types, as well as the largest independent programmatic CTV marketplace, making it easier for buyers to reach CTV audiences at scale from industry-leading streaming content providers, broadcasters, publishers, platforms and device manufacturers.

Magnite’s CTV revenue grew from $11.06 million in Q4 2019 to $15.34 million in Q4 2020, up by 39% on a year-on-year basis. CTV contributed to 19% of Magnite’s revenue in Q4 2020. CTV is projected to be Magnite’s most important growth driver in the future, and with the recently completed SpotX acquisition, CTV revenue is expected to account for a larger portion of Magnite’s total revenue in the future.
