Green Brick Partners’ total revenue increased from $275.82 million in Q3 2020 to $342.34 million in Q3 2021, indicating a 24.12% growth on a year-on-year basis. However, the revenue in Q3 2021 declined by 8.42% i.e. from $373.81 million in Q2 2021 to $342.34 million in Q3 2021 on a quarterly basis.

Builder Operations
Builder operations Central represents operations of builders in Texas, whereas Builder operations Southeast represents operations of builders in Georgia and Florida.
Interest expense of Builder operations Central and Southeast segments represents an interest expense charged by Corporate, other, and unallocated segment about financing purchases of land and construction of some of the Company’s Dallas and Atlanta builders.
Selling, general and administrative expenses as a percentage of revenue for builder operations decreased by 0.7%. due to a higher degree of operating leverage driven by increased sales volume. Builder operations expenditures include salary expenses, sales commissions, and community costs such as advertising and marketing expenses, rent, professional fees, and non-capitalized property taxes.
Green Brick Partners’ revenue from Builder Operations increased by 28.41% from $264.04 million in Q3 2020 to $339.05 million in Q3 2021 on a year-on-year basis. However, it declined by 3.67% on a quarter-on-quarter basis, i.e. from $351.97 million in Q2 2021 to $339.05 million in Q3 2021. This segment contributed to 99.04% of the company’s total revenue in Q3 2021.
Land Development
Virtually all land development and construction work is performed by unaffiliated third-party subcontractors. As a consequence, the timing and quality of the development of land and the construction of homes depend on the availability and skill of subcontractors.
The 2.3% decrease in selling, general and administrative expense as a percentage of revenue for land development was primarily attributable to an increase in land development segment revenues.
Green Brick Partners’ revenue from Land Development decreased by 72.03% from $11.78 million in Q3 2020 to $3.30 million in Q3 2021 on a year-on-year basis. It also declined by 84.91% on a quarter-on-quarter basis, i.e. from $21.83 million in Q2 2021 to $3.30 million in Q3 2021. This segment contributed to only 0.96% of the company’s total revenue in Q3 2021.
