This statistic highlights Equinor’s Sales Volume Worldwide, split across Crude Oil, and Natural gas, reported quarterly from Q1 2016 onwards.
Equinor, a major global participant in the oil and gas business, saw different trends in its crude oil and natural gas sales volumes. While the company’s crude oil sales increased at a noteworthy rate, it faced a drop.
Segment | 2022 Q1 | 2022 Q4 | 2023 Q1 | YoY growth (2023 Q1) |
Crude Oil (mmbl) | 185.5 | 191.2 | ||
Natural gas (bcm) | 16.5 | 15.8 | 15.7 | -5% |
Total | 202 | 207 | 15.7 | -92% |
(All the values are in USD except percentage)
Equinor’s total sales volume, which includes both crude oil and natural gas, was roughly 202.0 mmbl in the first quarter of 2022. This figure rose to 207.0 mmbl in the fourth quarter of the same year, indicating a positive trend. However, due to the aforementioned fall in natural gas sales, Equinor’s sales volume fell to 15.7 bcm in the first quarter of 2023. Overall Sales Volume Growth Rate: Equinor’s total growth rate during the first quarters of 2022 and 2023 is -92.08% when we combine both crude oil and natural gas sales volumes.
Crude Oil
Equinor reported a crude oil sales volume of 185.5 million barrels (mmbl) in 2022. This huge amount underscores the company’s strong position as a major producer and exporter of crude oil. The consistent demand for crude oil during this time period most certainly contributed to Equinor’s strong sales numbers. Moving on to Q1 2023, crude oil sales volume plummeted to 15.7 mmbl, representing a 92% fall from the same quarter the previous year. Such a rapid contraction raises concerns and necessitates an in-depth examination of the circumstances causing this big reduction.
Natural Gas
In the first quarter of 2022, Equinor’s natural gas sales volume was 16.5 billion cubic meters (bcm). Equinor, a major player in the natural gas market at the time, capitalized on the growing demand for cleaner energy sources. However, by Q1 2023, natural gas sales volume had fallen to 15.7 bcm, a 5% decrease year on year. Although the drop is smaller than that of crude oil, it still represents a challenge for Equinor in maintaining its natural gas sales pace.
