Ammonia : 78,000 tons, contributing to 26.53% of the total sales volume.

UAN: 216,000 tons, contributing to 73.47% of the total sales volume.

The trend observed over the years indicates that UAN consistently drives the majority of the firm’s sales, underscoring its significance in the company’s product portfolio.

Decline in Sales Volume in Q4 2022 : The overall sales volume declined in Q4 2022 compared to previous quarters. The drop was primarily influenced by lower production at both facilities due to planned turnarounds in the third quarter of 2022. Additionally, increased downtime resulting from the Messer Outages at the Coffeyville Facility and equipment issues at the East Dubuque Facility further contributed to the decline in sales volume.

Market Dynamics

Despite the decrease in sales volumes, CVR Partners achieved favorable sales prices in Q4 2022, particularly during the first quarter. This was driven by significant price increases in Ammonia and UAN. Ammonia prices rose by 88%, while UAN prices increased by 84%.

The favorable sales prices were largely a result of tight market conditions arising from the Russia-Ukraine conflict during February 2022. 

Reduced fertilizer supply in Europe due to the high energy price environment resulted in decreased production, creating a demand-supply imbalance. Furthermore, higher crop pricing also played a role in boosting the sales prices of Ammonia and UAN.
