Beer

They are the #1 brewer and seller of imported beer in the U.S. market. They are also the leader in the high-end segment of the U.S. beer market, it includes the craft, imported, and ABA categories. They have the exclusive right to import, market, and sell the following Mexican brands in all 50 states of the U.S.:

In the U.S., they are the leading imported beer company and have nine of the 15 top-selling imported beer brands. Modelo Especial is the third best-selling beer overall, best-selling imported beer, and the fastest-growing major imported beer brand in the U.S. Corona Extra is the sixth best-selling beer and the second-largest imported beer in the U.S.

Wine and Spirits

They are a leading, higher-end wine and spirits company in the U.S., having a portfolio that includes higher-margin, higher-growth wine and spirits brands. The company’s wine portfolio is supported by grapes purchased from independent growers in the U.S. and New Zealand, and vineyard holdings in countries like the U.S., New Zealand, and Italy. Their wine and spirits are primarily marketed in the U.S. and exported to a number of major world markets.
In the U.S., They have eight of the 100 top-selling high-end wine brands, with Meiomi and Kim Crawford achieving the #4 and #7 spot, respectively. Some of their well-known wine and spirits brands include 7 Moons, Robert Mondavi, Crafters Union, etc.

Also, this segment has contributed 8% of the total shipment volume in Q3 2022.

COVID Impact

In the key markets where they sell their products, the beverage alcohol industry has been classified as an essential business. COVID-19 containment measures affected them earlier in the fiscal year primarily because of

  1. reduced sales volume in the on-premise business due to bar and restaurant closures
  2. reduced shipment volume related to the reduced production activity at their major breweries in Mexico
