Active brokerage accounts are brokerage accounts that have been active in the past 270 days. New brokerage accounts include all brokerage accounts opened during the period, as well as any accounts added via acquisition.
The number of new brokerage accounts was 4.0 million in 2022, which was a decrease from the previous year. Active brokerage accounts totaled 33.8 million as of Dec. 31, 2022, a 2% increase from Dec. 31, 2021. In the first quarter of 2023, the number of active brokerage accounts reached 34.1 million, showing a 1.6% growth year-over-year.
