Archer Daniels Midland is primarily concerned with its Oilseeds & Grain Processing segment, which accounts for the majority of its revenue. This segment is largely driven by the company’s dominant position in the international agricultural market. The Carbohydrate Solutions and the Nutrition segments account for the remaining portion of the total revenue. While the Other business segment contributes a negligible amount i.e. 0.4% of the total revenue.
Ag Services and Oilseeds
The Ag services and oilseeds segment handles global activities for agricultural raw materials, including origination, merchandising, transportation, storage, and disposal. They produce oilseed products for food, feed, energy, and industrial applications, and provide peanuts and related ingredients.
Carbohydrate Solutions
The Carbohydrate Solutions segment processes corn and wheat in wet and dry mills, transforming them into food and beverage products like sweeteners, starches, syrup, and glucose. They also process wheat flour, dextrose, and other ingredients for renewable chemicals. The segment has signed Memorandums of Understanding with strategic partners to produce low-carbon, biodegradable products, including sustainable aviation fuel.
Nutrition
The Nutrition segment offers services in food, beverages, nutritional supplements, feed premixes, additives for livestock and aquaculture, and pet food. It produces, sells, and distributes plant-derived proteins, natural flavors, colors, emulsifiers, soluble fiber, hydrocolloids, probiotics, prebiotics, enzymes, botanical extracts, specialty foods, feed ingredients, and private labels pet treats and foods. The segment also processes and distributes edible beans.
Other business
Other Business includes the Company’s futures commission business, which generates revenue from commissions and brokerage income from clients’ orders and clearing futures contracts. It also has a captive insurance business, which generates third-party revenue from reinsurance pools.
