Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Valero’s total revenues have fallen from $108.32 billion in FY 2019 to $64,91 billion in FY 2020, which is a 40% decrease. This decrease in revenue can be attributable to the steep fall in fuel demand due to travel restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Also with increased competition from companies such as Delek US Holdings, Chevron, ExxonMobil, Ultrapar Participacoes, Marathon Petroleum, Phillips 66, Continental Resources, Indian Oil Corporation, and Trafigura the company’s revenue will be under strain.

A majority of Valero’s revenue comes from the U.S, which contributed about 70% of the company’s total revenue in FY 2020 amounting to $45.17 billion. There was a 41% decrease in revenue compared to FY 2019 where the revenue generated was $77.17 billion. The company has its retail outlets in Texas, Minnesota, California, Ohio, Illinois, New York, Alaska, and Delaware in the U.S.
U.K and Ireland
U.K and Ireland was the second biggest market for Valero products during FY 2020 and contributed about 14% of the company’s total revenue. There was a fall in the company’s revenue in FY 2020 to $9.27 billion, from $13.58 billion in FY 2019. In the U.K and Ireland region, the company has its branches in London and Dublin.
The Canadian region could not match the revenue from U.K and Ireland and contributed only about 7% of the total revenues of Valero during FY 2020. In keeping with the general trend, revenue from this region fell from $7.92 billion in FY 2019 to $4.29 billion in FY 2020. The company has two of its outlets in Montreal.
During FY 2020, Other Countries contributed about 9% of the company’s total revenue. There was a decrease in the company’s revenue from this region, from $9.65 billion in FY 2019 to $6.18 billion in FY 2020. The company has branches in Peru, Mexico, and Caribbean Islands.
