Sonos Inc’s total revenue declined from $645.58 million in Q1 2021 to $359.54 million in Q4 2021, marking a fall of 44.31%. There was a rise of 84.81% or $304.94 million on a quarterly basis, from $359.54 million in Q4 2021 to $664.48 million in Q1 2022. On a year-on-year basis, it rose by 2.9%, from $645.58 million in Q1 2021 to $664.48 million in Q1 2022.

Sonos Speakers

More than half of Sonos Inc’s revenue was generated from the Sonos speakers segment, accounting for 75.53% of the total revenue in Q1 2022. The revenue decreased from $527.52 million in Q1 2021 to $273.53 million in Q4 2021, a massive decline in revenue by 48.15% or $253.99 million. On a quarterly basis, the revenue increased by a massive 83.49%, from $273.53 million in Q4 2021 to $501.89 million in Q1 2022. Comparing yearly, there was a decline in the revenue from $527.52 million in Q1 2021 to $501.89 million in Q1 2022, projecting a decline of 4.86% or $25.63 million. 

Sonos System Products

The revenue from the Sonos system products segment generated 20.28% of the total revenue in Q1 2022 and is one of the important revenue contributors for Sonos Inc. In Q1 2022, this segment earned a revenue of $134.75 million, which was an increase of 37.84% or $36.99 million on a yearly basis, as compared to $97.76 million revenue earned in Q1 2021. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, the revenue grew by a massive 98.92% or $67.01 million, when compared to $67.74 million in Q4 2021.

Partner Products and Other Revenue

The company generates part of its revenue from partner products and other revenue sources, such as module revenue from its IKEA partnership, architectural speakers from the partnership with Sonance. This segment also includes revenue from accessories such as speaker stands and wall mounts, professional services, licensing advertising, and subscription revenue.  

The company’s revenue from the Partner products and other revenues segment witnessed a decline of 10% or $2.03 million, from $20.31 million in Q1 2021 to $18.28 million in Q4 2021. However, the revenue earned through this segment showed a rise from $20.31 million in Q1 2021 to $27.85 million in Q1 2022, accounting for an increase of 37.12% or $7.54 million on a year-on-year basis. Quarterly, the revenue generated from this segment increased by 52.35%, from $18.28 million in Q4 2021 to $27.85 million in Q1 2022. This segment accounted for 4.19% of the total revenue generated in Q1 2022.
