Seagate Technology is an American company that provides electronic data storage technology and solutions. The main product of the company is its hard disk drives (HDDs). They also produce SSD’s, SSHD’S, and many other storage devices. Their products are designed for a range of devices, such as digital video recorders (DVRs), personal data backup systems, portable external storage systems, digital media systems, and surveillance systems. Their only competitors are Western Digital and Toshiba.

Seagate’s revenue for 2019 was $10.39 billion which was down by 7% from the previous year’s revenue of $11.18 billion. More than 50% of the company’s revenue comes from the Asia – Pacific region. 26% of the remaining revenue comes from the Americas and the remainder comes from the EMEA region.
In the first quarter of 2018, the revenue from the EMEA region was $472 million, which then increased to $553.66 million in the second quarter, $476.51 million in the third quarter, and $397.35 million in the fourth quarter. The revenue then increased in 2019 to $517 million in the first quarter, $598 million in the second quarter, $448 million in the third quarter, and $450.49 million in the fourth quarter. In the first quarter of 2020, the revenue from this region went down to $465 million and is expected to increase to $558 million in the second quarter and $523 million in the third quarter.
The revenue from the American region in the first quarter of 2018 was $875 million which then declined to $757.64 million in the second quarter, $812.87 million in the third quarter, and then increased to $764.83 million in the fourth quarter. It increased to $1.01 billion in the first quarter of 2019 and then declined to $731 million in the second quarter, $796 million in the third quarter, and $758.72 million in the fourth quarter. The revenue from this region declined to $835 million in the first quarter of 2020 and is expected to increase to $761 million in the second quarter and $938 million by the third quarter of 2020.
The revenue from the Asia – Pacific region decreased to $1.29 billion in the first quarter of 2018 and then went on to increase to $1.60 billion in the second quarter, $1.51 billion in the third quarter and $1.67 billion in the fourth quarter. It increased to $1.47 billion in the first quarter of 2019 and then decreased to $1.39 billion in the second quarter, $1.07 billion in the third quarter, and had declined to $1.16 billion by the end of the year. And the revenue declined to $1.28 billion in the first quarter of 2020 and is expected to increase to $1.38 billion in the second quarter and $1.26 billion in the third quarter.
The revenue for Seagate declined in 2019 for almost all regions in almost all quarters. The positives for the company is that the revenue figures are expected to bounce back in the coming years owing to the dependence on technology. Seagate needs to keep up with the advancement in technology to continue to grow and compete with Western Digital.
