An analysis of the region-wise revenue of the company is discussed below.

  • United States: A majority of Oracle’s revenue comes from the United States, which contributed about 47% of total revenue in FY 2020 amounting to $18.43 billion. There was a 0.91% decrease in revenue compared to FY 2019 where the revenue generated was $18.60 billion. The region has witnessed a decreasing trend in its revenue from FY 2018 onwards.
  • Germany: During FY 2020, Germany contributed about 4% of the company’s total revenue. There was a decrease in the company’s revenue from this region,  from $1.58 billion in FY 2019 to $1.51 billion in FY 2020.
  • Canada: The Canadian region could not match the revenue from Germany and contributed only about 3% of the total revenues of Oracle during FY 2020. This region’s revenue remained steady at $1.16 billion in both FY 2019 and FY 2020.
  • France: France hasn’t contributed any revenue to Oracle’s total revenue since FY 2017.
  • Japan : This region had registered a revenue of $1.84 billion during FY 2019 which increased to $1.90 billion in FY 2020. Furthermore among all regions, this is the only region that has witnessed an increasing trend from FY 2018 to FY 2020, from $1.69 billion to $1.90 billion.
  • United Kingdom: Despite being considered the economic powerhouse of Europe, it only contributed 5% of the total revenues of Oracle in FY 2020. This region’s revenue decreased from $2.05 billion in FY 2019 to $1.97 billion in FY 2020, which is a 4% decrease.
  • Other Countries: Other countries include the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Belarus, Hong Kong, Chile, Malaysia, Brazil, New Zealand, South Africa, Singapore, Australia, Sweden, Bahrain, Chile, Colombia, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Switzerland, and the United Arab Emirates. This group was collectively the second biggest market for Oracle during FY 2020 as they contributed about 36% of the company’s total revenue. There was a fall in the company’s revenue in FY 2020 to $14.08 billion, from $14.26 billion in FY 2019, from this region.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Oracle’s total revenues have decreased from $39.83 billion in FY 2018 to $39.06 billion in FY 2020, which is a 2% decrease. This decrease in revenue can be attributable to the fact the server market has failed to recover as it remains impacted due to the pandemic. Also with increased competition from companies such as Microsoft, IBM, MongoDB, Amazon Web Services (AWS), SQLite, Google, SAP, and MariaDB the total revenue will be under strain.
