NeoPhotonics Corporation (NYSE: NPTN), headquartered in California, is an American public corporation, founded in 1996. These products include photonic integrated circuits, high bandwidth receivers, transceivers, optical semiconductors, tunable lasers, and 100 GBPS and above modules. NeoPhotonics primarily produces products that use coherent technology, mainly designed for 100G and beyond data rates, for telecom and data center or content provider networks and applications. Due to the rapid expansion of the telecom backbone, revenues from the company’s high-speed products have grown rapidly, and the content provider networks have accommodated increased mobile traffic.
The year 2016
The year reported an exponential growth with significant improvements in other parts of the world, offset by a decrease in Japan and the United States. In the first quarter, China stands at the top in terms of revenue by ship-to-location to $61.44, covering more than 60% of total revenue. The coverage is followed by the United States, with $17.84 million of revenue. In the next quarter, the revenue is constant in Japan and other parts of the world, leading to a slight boost in overall revenue to $99.13 million. The year ended with a revenue of $109.80 million, with substantial increases in China and the rest of the world.
The year 2017
The overall revenue during the year got affected by a substantial drop in China’s revenue, despite the minimal increase in the U.S. In the first quarter, the total revenue stands at $72 million, with China’s share of $38.88 million. Other parts of the world and the U.S. followed the league of drop along with a minute increase in Japan to $3.60 million. The revenue in the subsequent quarters was fluctuating with minimal increase and decrease across operational states. In Q3, the revenue in Japan and other parts of the world worsened, offset by growth in China and the U.S. In the last quarter, the growth continued in China and other parts of the world, leading the overall revenue toll to $76.60 million.
The year 2018
During the year, the growth in revenue was linear, with significant improvements in China and the United States. In Q1, despite an increase in revenues in the U.S., the overall revenue dropped to $70.71 million compared to last quarter. In Q2, revenue growth in each operational state improved and lead the total revenue to toll to $81.10 million, and In the third quarter, the revenue grew minutely, attributed to growth in China and the United States, offset by the drop in other parts of the world. The revenue tolled to $91.10 million until the end of the last quarter with significant growth in China and the United States.
The year 2019
The year started with a substantial drop in the first quarter and then exponentially grew till the end of the third quarter. In Q1, the overall revenue dropped to $79.37 million, attributed to a decrease in the company’s significant states. This year was not favorable for the major contributor, China, as the revenue fall was constant through subsequent quarters. Though the revenue tolled to $92.39 million in the third quarter, overall revenue growth dropped in China, offset by a consistent increase in the U.S. and other parts of the world.
