PCB, Display and Component Inspection
It includes inspection, testing, measurement tools, and DI for patterning products used by PCB, FPD, advanced packaging, MEMS, and other electronic component manufacturers.
The total revenue generated from this segment grew by 4.85% on a year-on-year basis, from $179.26 million in Q2 2021 to $187.97 million in Q2 2022. However, when compared to Q1 2022, where the revenue generated was $202.80 million, there was decline in revenue. It fell by 7.31% on a quarter-on-quarter basis. PCB, Display and Component Inspection segment contributed 7.99% to the total revenue in the latest quarter of 2022. Even though there was a year-on-year increase in revenue generated from the segment, the contribution to revenue fell from 10.86% in Q2 2021.
Semiconductor Process Control
This section offers a comprehensive range of inspection, metrology, and data analytics tools, as well as related service solutions, that help IC makers achieve target yields throughout the semiconductor fabrication process, from R&D to final volume production.
The revenue generated from Semiconductor Process Control segment has been increasing over the quarters. The revenue stood at $2,052.20 million in Q2 2022. When compared to Q2 2021, there was a 48.69% year-on-year increase. The revenue increased by 15.35% on a quarterly basis, from $1,779.08 million in Q1 2022 to $2,052.20 million in Q2 2022. The contribution to revenue mix has also been increasing over the quarters, 83.62% in Q2 2021, 85.37% in Q1 2022, and 87.22% in Q2 2022.
Specialty Semiconductor Process
This segment contains advanced vacuum deposition and etching process instruments utilized by a wide spectrum of specialty semiconductor customers.
The total revenue generated from Specialty Semiconductor Process segment has been increasing every quarter. The revenue increased by 10.49% on a quarter-on-quarter basis, from $102.02 million in Q1 2022 to $112.73 million in Q2 2022. The year-on-year growth was 24.45%, when compared to Q2 2021, where the revenue generated was $90.58 million. However, the contribution declined from 5.48% in Q2 2021 to 4.79% in Q2 2022.
This category comprises products that don’t fit into the other three categories. This segment has generated revenue only in Q2 2021. This is because KLA entered into an Asset Purchase Agreement in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2020 to sell the core assets of its non-strategic solar energy business, which accounted for the majority of the “Other” reportable division. In the second quarter of fiscal 2021, the sale was completed.
