HEXO Corp. is a Canadian cannabis company and was formerly known as Hydropothecary Corp. They produce and distribute products to serve the Canadian cannabis market. They operate a production facility of about 300,000 square feet. They serve the adult-use market under the brand name HEXO and the medical cannabis client under the name Hydropothecary. The company’s products are – Time of day product line which includes dried marijuana buds for the morning, midday, after dinner and bedtime, Hydrogen classical marijuana line, ready to consume marijuana powder, oils, and sprays.
The company sold 90.50 kgs of marijuana in the second quarter of 2017, 137 kgs in the third quarter, and 95.7 kgs in the fourth quarter. In 2018 they sold 120 kgs in the first quarter,131 kgs in the second quarter, 134 kgs in the third quarter, and 152 kgs by the end of the fourth quarter. HEXO saw a huge jump in sales during 2019 to 1,110 kgs in the first quarter, 2,690 kgs in the second quarter, 2,900 kgs in the third quarter, and the sales then jumped to 4,820 kgs in the last quarter. The sales continued to increase in 2020 to 4.330 in the first quarter and are expected to be at around 6,690 in the second quarter.
Until 2019 the company sold only in wholesale and medical markets. IT has recently entered the adult-use market and the adult-use segment has become the major market for the company’s operations.
In the medical market, HEXO sold 90.50 kgs in the second quarter of 2017, 137 kgs in the third quarter, and 95.70 kgs in the last quarter. In 2018 the company sold 120 kgs of medical marijuana in the first quarter, 131 kgs in the second quarter, 134kgs in the third quarter, and 152 kgs by the end of the year. In 2019 the medical marijuana sales stood at 158 kgs in the first quarter, 152 kgs in the second quarter, 145 kgs in the third quarter, and 137 kgs in the last quarter. In 2020 they sold 129 kgs in the first quarter and expect to sell 107 kgs in the second quarter.
The last quarter of 2019 saw a substantial amount of wholesale sales of 672 kgs.
The company started selling adult-use marijuana in 2019 and the sales have been increasing ever since. In the first quarter of 2019, they sold 952 kgs of adult-use marijuana, 2,540 kgs in the second quarter, 2,760 kgs in the third quarter, and 4,010 kgs in the last quarter. As of the first quarter of 2020, they have sold 4,200 kgs of adult-use marijuana and expect to sell around 6,500 kgs in the next quarter.
The adult-use marijuana segment is now the company’s major source of income and sales in the segment have been growing manifold. In the coming years, both adult-use and medical marijuana are expected to be used intensively as more and more countries are legalizing the use of marijuana. The already established firms like HEXO will have an upper hand over newer firms.
