Charter Communications Inc. is an American telecommunications and mass media company. They provide their services under the brand name Spectrum. Charter serves more than 25 million customers in the United States. It is the second largest cable operator in the United States, just behind Comcast. It is also the third largest pay TV operator and fifth largest telephone provider. They also own and operate regional sports networks and news and lifestyle channels and also sells security and home management services to the residential marketplace.
The company earns revenue through the following channels – advertising sales (3.5%), enterprise (5.5%), internet (36%), mobile (1.5%), small and medium business (8.43%), video (39%), voice (4.5%) and other revenue (1.5%).
Revenue from advertising sales in 2019 was $345 million in the first quarter, $395 million in the second quarter, $394 million in the third quarter and $434 million by the end of the fourth quarter.
Revenue from enterprise segment was $643 million in the first quarter of 2019, $652 million in the second quarter, $644 million in the third quarter and $617 million by the end of the year.
Revenue from its biggest market – internet services was $4.02 billion in the first quarter of 2019, $4.10 billion in the second quarter, $4.20 billion in the third quarter and $4.35 billion in the last quarter of the year.
Revenue from the mobile segment in 2019 was at $140 million in the first quarter, $196 million in the second quarter, $192 million in the third quarter and then increased to $236 million in the last quarter of the year.
Revenue from small and medium business stood at $945 million in the first quarter of 2019, $963 million in the second quarter, $974 million in the third quarter and reached $986 million by the end of the year.
Revenue from video services was $4.38 billion as of the first quarter of 2019, $4.39 billion in the second quarter, $4.36 billion in the third quarter and $4.47 billion by the end of the fourth quarter of 2019.
Revenue from voice services in 2019 was $504 million in the first quarter of the year, $489 million in the second quarter and then declined to $477 million in the third quarter and $450 million by the end of the year.
Revenue from other sources stood at $221 million in the first quarter of 2019 after which it dropped to $158 million in the second quarter before increasing to $215 million in the third quarter and $220 million in the fourth quarter of 2019.
Charter Communications revenue has been increasing every year. Revenue went from $27.167 billion in 2016 to $42.6 billion in 2019. Revenue from almost all their services has been increasing every year and every quarter. Charter Communications ranked No. 70 in the Fortune 500 list of 2019 of largest companies in terms of total revenue. It competes with companies like Comcast, AT&T, Verizon Communications Inc., Frontier Communications, T – Mobile, etc.
