Charter Communications is a cable operator and broadband communications services company in the United States. They provide video, internet and voice services to more than 25 million customers in more than 40 states across America. In addition, it sells video and online advertising inventory to local, regional and national advertising customers and fiber- delivered communications and managed IT solutions to enterprise customers. They also operate sports, news and lifestyle channels for the residential marketplace. They offer residential services, commercial services, advertising services and many other services.
The Company sells its residential and commercial services using a national brand platform known as Spectrum. Services include Spectrum TV, Spectrum Internet and Spectrum Voice. They also offer business- to – business Internet access, data networking, business telephone, video and music entertainment services and wireless backhaul. Charter’s revenue for 2019 was $45.76 billion which was a 4.8% increase from the previous year’s revenue of $43.63 billion. Revenue comes from two categories – residential sector and commercial sector.
The revenue from the commercial sector was $301 million in the first quarter of 2016. It was $816 million in the second quarter And, $1.38 billion in the third quarter and $1.42 billion in the last quarter. Revenue increased in 2017 to $1.44 billion in the first quarte. With $1.47 billion in the second quarter. Q3 and Q4 showed $1.48 billion and $1.50 billionrespectively. It increased further in 2018 to $1.52 billion in the first quarter. And, $1.54 billion in the second quarter. $1.55 billion in Q3 and $1.58 billion by Q4. Customer revenue went up to $1.59 billion in the first quarter of 2019. With $1.62 billion in the second quarter, remained unchanged in the third quarter and then went down to $1.60 billion by the end of the year.
The residential segment forms the major part of Charter communications revenue. Revenue from the residential sector was $2.11 billion in the first quarter of 2016 and then jumped to $4.98 billion in the second quarter, $8.03 billion in the third quarter and $8.13 billion in the last quarter. Customer revenue from this segment increased in 2017 to $8.17 billion in the first quarter, $8.29 billion in the second quarter, $8.38 billion in the third quarter and $8.45 billion by the end of the fourth quarter. It increased further in 2018 to $8.56 billion in the first quarter, $8.66 billion in the second quarter, $8.65 billion in the third quarter and $8.77 billion by the end of the last quarter of 2018. Revenue then went up to $8.91 billion in the first quarter of 2019, $8.98 billion in the second quarter, crossed $9 billion to reach $9,03 billion in the third quarter and reached $9.27 billion by the end of the year.
Charter Communications’ revenue been increasing from both commercial and residential users. Owing to the increased use of mobiles, internet and TV , we can expect revenues for the company to increase in 2020.
