There is a gradual rise in the total revenue with every passing quarter. The incremental increase in revenue from Q2 2021 to Q3 2021 is 20.96%. Moreover on yearly grounds , the total revenue increased from $39.735 million in Q3 2020 to $59.285 million in Q3 2021 marking a jump of 49.20% on a year-on-year basis. As shown, the highest total revenue of $59.285 million is earned in the latest quarter–Q3 2021.
United States: On breaking down the revenue based on geographic locations, we realize that the United States is BigCommerce’s largest consumer market. Revenue from this region far exceeds even the combined revenue of all their other consumer markets. In the latest quarter, the United States contributed a massive $46.167 million i.e. 77.87% of their total quarterly revenue. The States’ contributed 79.23% of the the quarterly revenue in Q3 2020 by grossing a total of $31.483 million.
Asia-Pacific (APAC): The second-largest consumer market of BigCommerce is the Asia-Pacific region. Though the scale of revenue contributed is lower in comparison to that of the United States, APAC’s revenue contribution in the latest quarter was $5.647 million which is 9.53% of that quarter’s total revenue. In Q2 2021, APAC’s revenue was $4.781 million being 9.75% of the quarterly total which implies that there was a slight decrease in Q3 2021 in APAC’s contributing ratio which stood at 9.53%–even though the revenue amount increased, the contribution proportion of the respective quarters decreased.
Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA): Following in line as the third-highest revenue market is the EMEA region. The revenue from EMEA has increased with every quarter. In the latest quarter, they grossed a revenue of $5.342 million. The revenue proportion of the quarterly total in Q2 2021 was 9.76% and in the latest quarter, the contribution proportion decreased to 9.01% of the respective quarterly total–though the revenue amount was actually higher, only the contribution proportion declined in Q3 2021.
Other America: This region is BigCommerce’s fourth-largest revenue contributor. In Q3 2021, they earned $2.129 million from other Americas comprising 3.59% of their quarterly total. In Q2 2021, other Americas’ revenue was $1.906 million with their proportion of the quarterly total revenue standing at 3.89% which is greater than the latest quarter.
In 2018, BigCommerce started their first office in Europe by opening one in London. Expanding their office over the next two years was profitable as it resulted in 68% revenue growth in 2020 and 20% in 2019 by the respective year-ends, from the EMEA region. In APAC, they fostered their sales and marketing in Sydney resulting in 28% revenue growth in 2019 and 38% in 2020. BigCommerce aims to expand their international consumer market. In the past two years, around 20% of the company’s revenue has come from markets other than the States.
