1. PCs and services
PCs and Personal Service is a leasing, licensing, and delivery model for personal computers and optional software in which personal computers and softwares are leased and licensed on a subscription basis. Revenue from PCs and services is mostly recognized rateably throughout the subscription period.
The rise in PCS and services revenue is largely linked to sales to the customers in earlier quarters and the expansion in customer base due to the rateable recognition of this income over time.
The majority of Alteryx’s revenue is generated through the PCs and services segment, accounting for 70% of the company’s revenue in Q3 2021, amounting to $86.02 million. It grew by 29.21% compared to $66.57 million earned in Q3 2020, and by 7.45% compared to $80.05 million in Q2 2021.
2. Subscription-based software licenses
Users pay a per-user payment for subscription-based software, which is licensed on a monthly or annually basis. Customers typically pay a one-time subscription price and are only allowed to use the program for the duration of the subscription, as against a perpetual license, which permits them to use the software indefinitely. Alteryx Designer for profiling, preparing, merging, and analyzing data, and Alteryx Server for planning, sharing, and running analytical applications and processes in a web environment are among the tools available through Alteryx Inc.’s subscription platform.
Alteryx Inc.’s revenue from the Subscription-based software licenses segment decreased from $63.14 million in Q3 2020 to $37.47 million in Q3 2021 by 40.65% on a year-on-year basis.
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a detrimental effect on the company’s revenue, and may continue to harm global economies and financial markets, resulting in a fall in technology investment and decreasing demand for Alteryx Inc.’s products and services. Any prolonged economic downturn or recession caused by the COVID-19 pandemic could harm the company’s business and operating results, resulting in additional business closures, layoffs or furloughs of the customer demand, employees, or reductions in the number of hours worked, coupled with a significant increase in unemployment.
