Introduction

Airbus SE is a European Multinational Aerospace corporation. As of 2019 Airbus was the world’s largest airline manufacturer. Airbus is based out of Netherlands. The company operates through three segments – Airbus, Airbus Helicopters and Airbus Defense and Space. The Airbus segment focuses on commercial jet aircrafts, aircraft components and related services. The Airbus helicopter segment specializes in the production and sale of civil and military helicopters as well as provision of helicopter related services. The Airbus Defense and Space segment produces military aircrafts, defense electronics, missiles, etc.

Helicopter Segment

Revenue from the helicopters segment was $1.29 billion in the first quarter of 2016. And $1.40 billion in the second quarter. Q3 and Q4  showed $1.60 billion and $2.37 billion respectively. Revenue declined to $1.18 billion in the first quarter of 2017. It was $1.54 billion in the second quarter.  It showed $1.47 billion in the third quarter and $2.27 billion in the fourth quarter. It declined further in 2018 to $961 million in the first quarter. And, $1.43 billion in the second quarter with $1.37 billion in the third quarter. It was $2.18 billion in the last quarter. Revenue for 2019 was $1.01 billion in the first quarter, $1.36 billion in the second quarter and $1.34 billion in the third quarter.

Defence and Space

Revenue from defense and space was $2.11 billion in the first quarter of 2016. And $3.33 billion in the second quarter. Q3 and Q4 showed $2.27 billion and $4.14 billion respectively. Revenue for 2017 was $2.34 billion in the first quarter. It was $2.56 billion in the second quarter. And. $2.11 billion in the third quarter with $3.80 billion in the fourth quarter. Revenue in 2018 was $2.22 billion in the first quarter, $2.44 billion in the second quarter, $2.40 billion in the third quarter and $4.01 billion by the end of the fourth quarter. Revenue increased in 2019 to $2.11 billion in the first quarter, $2.90 billion in the second quarter and $2.69 billion in the third quarter.

Revenue from Airbus in 2016 was $9.82 billion in the first quarter, $11.24 billion in the second quarter, $10.45 billion in the third quarter and $17.73 billion in the fourth quarter.

Revenue declined in 2017 to $8.17 billion in the first quarter and $10.02 billion in the second quarter before increasing to $10.85 billion in the third quarter and $21.92 billion in the fourth quarter. Revenue for 2018 was $7.22 billion in the first quarter, $11.32 billion in the second quarter, $11.93 billion in the third quarter and $17.49 billion in the last quarter.

Revenue increased to $9.70 billion in the first quarter, $14.35 billion in the second quarter and $11.53 billion in the third quarter.

Conclusion

Revenue for airbus has been falling over the years, especially for the helicopter segment. Revenue is expected to fall and then remain stagnant for a couple of periods owing to the covid-19 outbreak. Despite the decreasing revenue Airbus is still one of the biggest brands in the airline industry and received the most airline orders in 2019.
