Activision Blizzard Inc.’s monthly active users were 435 million in Q1 2021, an increase of 6.88% compared to Q1 2020. The company gained 28 million monthly active users in 2020.

Activision 

Activision Publishing Inc. manages the development, production, and distribution of video games through its subsidiary studios. Call of Duty is a flagship product franchise of Activision. The company also operates the Call of Duty League, a worldwide professional sports league featuring city-based teams.

In Q4 2019, Activision launched Call of Duty Mobile due to which, MAU increased from 36 million in Q3 2019 to 128 million. The company gained 92 million monthly active users in Q4 2019. That was the massive growth Activision had ever seen. In Q1 2021, Activision’s monthly users increased by 47.06% year-over-year, or 48 million in Q1 2020 to 150 million.

Blizzard 

Activision Blizzard, Inc. acquired Blizzard Entertainment in 2008. Blizzard operates its online gaming service as Blizzard Battle.net. It operates a one-of-a-kind online gaming service that enables the digital distribution of Blizzard material, selected Activision content, online social connectivity, and user-generated content creation. The company also includes activity from the Overwatch League, a global professional esports league with city-based teams.

Blizzard’s monthly active users dropped from 32 million in Q1 2020 to 27 million in Q1 2021, reflecting a 15.63% year-over-year drop.

King

Activision Bizzard purchased all of King Digital Entertainment plc’s outstanding shares in 2016 for $5.9 billion. Candy Crush is King’s flagship product, with “match three” games available for mobile and PC platforms.

King Digital Entertainment has been consistently contributing a major number of users. However, King’s monthly active users dropped from 273 million in Q1 2020 to 258 million in Q1 2021, marking a 5.49% decrease. In Q1 2021, King’s MAUs were approximately 60% of Activision’s total MAUs. King’s MAUs gradually decreased quarter by quarter after Q1 2016 till Q3 2019.
