Travel advisories & restrictions and limited public gatherings led to a decline in the ticket revenue for both leisure and business purposes. The company experienced heavy falls in the demand of passengers due to the novel coronavirus in 2020. The company reduced its capacity by 57% in 2020 as compared to 2019. The full impact of the pandemic will depend upon future developments like travel restrictions, vaccine efficacy, lockdown measures, testing requirements, etc which are all very uncertain.

Domestic

The domestic region including parts of the USA and Canada. This region had the highest share of 64.52% in the company’s total revenue in 2020. The revenue from this region too fell by approximately 57.8% from 2018 to 2020. The revenue fell by $17.05 billion from 2019 to 2020, marking a 63.2% fall in revenue in just a year. On the contrary, the revenue grew by $3.47 billion from 2018 to 2019, representing a growth of about 14.8% in revenue.

Atlantic

This region accounted for a 14.52% share in the company’s total revenue in 2020. The revenue from this region fell by about 66% from 2018 to 2020. It also fell by $5.16 billion from 2019 to 2020, marking a 70% fall in revenue in a year. On the other hand, the revenue grew by approximately 13% from 2018 to 2019.

Pacific

This region accounted for a share of 11.13% in the company’s total revenue in 2020. The total revenue fell by $2.76 billion from 2018 to 2020, leading to a 61.7% fall in revenue. The revenue also fell by $3.42 billion from 2019 to 2020, marking a 66.7% decline in revenue. Latin America

Latin America contributes the least share to the company’s total revenue in 2020, accounting for 8.93%.
