About the Company

The company is a public company headquartered in San Jose, California. It was founded in 1985 by an electrical engineering professor from Stanford, Richard Swanson. SunPower Corporation offers fully integrated sun, storage, and heating solutions for customers in the United States and Canada. It designs and markets solar power-related products and services. The company’s products are known for being very expensive but are good at producing energy more efficiently than competing products.

In 2008, SunPower started building large-scale solar farms for utility companies PG&E and OptiSolar in San Luis Obispo and Hayward respectively. It also built other large installations, such as at the Kennedy Space Centre and the Bavaria Solarpark in Germany in 2004.  The company first started leasing solar panels in 2011 and started a pilot project for battery products around 2014.

The company’s intelligent energy initiatives aim to add more intelligent controls to housing, buildings, and networks. It is a leading leader in US Generation in the United States. Distributed generation (“DG”) and energy service markets that enable customer management in power consumption and power outages are provided by several offers of household owners, companies, governments, schools, and utilities. Distribution channels are operated in both living and commercial markets. End customers operate. SunPower witnessed huge growth and went public in 2005. In 2007, the company acquired PowerLight, doubling the size of the company. It invests in business cultivation to increase customer experience and culture on continuous innovation, product development, and investment.
