Although the COVID-19 pandemic caused general business disruption worldwide beginning in January 2020, it resulted in an increase in Roblox operational performance, cash flows, and financial condition. The company saw an incline in user and bookings growth following the implementation of shelter-in-place orders to reduce the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the adoption of its platform, which generated additional opportunities for the company.

The total revenue of Roblox Corporation stood at $509.34 million in Q3 2021, making growth of 102.2% as compared to $251.91 million in Q3 2020, on a yearly basis. On a quarterly basis, it rose from $454.10 million in Q2 2021 to $509.34 million, recording an increase of 12.1%. Majority of their revenue is generated from US and Canada, followed by Europe and Asia Pacific.

The increase is mainly because of the expansion within the daily paying users, which is computed as the average number of unique paying users for each day during the period. The number of daily paying users increased 22% between Q3 2020 and Q3 2021.

The majority of Roblox’s revenue is generated from the United States and Canada, accounting for 68% of the company’s total revenue in Q3 2021. Revenue earned in Q3 2021 amounted to $345.61 million. It grew massively by 98.7% on a year-on-year basis as compared to $173.87 million in Q3 2020. Further, it also inclined by 11.7% on a quarterly basis, as compared to $309.20 million in Q2 2021.

Europe

The European region comprises of 19% of the company’s total revenue during the period Q3 2021.Roblox’s revenue earned from the European market inclined by 103.7% on a yearly basis, from $46.40 million in Q3 2020 to $94.52 million in Q3 2021. Further, it grew by 11.1% on a quarterly basis, as compared to $85.04 million earned in Q2 2021.

Asia-Pacific

Revenue from Asia-Pacific region, including Australia and New Zealand, increased from $19.06 million in Q3 2020 to $37.53 million in Q3 2021, witnessing a growth of 96.9% on a yearly basis. It further grew slightly by 13.5% as compared to $33.05 million in Q2 2021, on a quarterly basis. The Asia-Pacific region contributes 7% to the company’s total revenue in Q3 2021.

Rest of the world

Revenue from the rest of the world increased $19.09 million, or by 151.7% as compared to $12.58 million in Q3 2020, on a yearly basis. It also increased from $26.81 million in Q2 2021 to $31.67 million in Q3 2021, indicating an incline of 18.1% on a quarterly basis. The rest of the world contributed 6% of the company’s total revenue in Q3 2021.
