Introduction

PayPal is an American company that operates a worldwide digital payment system. It facilitates online money transfers and is being used as an alternative to traditional methods of payment. Their combined payments solution includes PayPal Credit, Braintree, Venmo, Xoom and Paydiant products. They have over 300 million active accounts.

More than 50% of their revenue comes from operations in the United States, 10% from United Kingdom and the remaining 35-40% comes from operations in other countries. United States is their biggest market and they have specialty products for the same.

United Kingdom

Revenue from United Kingdom stood at $307 million in the first quarter of 2016. $318 million in the second quarter, $298 million and $334 million in Q3 and Q4 respectively. An increase in revenue was seen in 2017 to $313 million in the first quarter. $334 million in Q2, $351 million and $404 million in Q3 and Q4 respectively. Revenue went up to $392 million in the first quarter of 2018. $402 million in the second quarter, $397 million in the third quarter and $467 million in the fourth quarter. In 2019 revenue had increased to $433 million in the first quarter, $454 million in the second quarter, $455 million in the third quarter and crossed $500 million to reach $530 million by the end of the year. Revenue for the first quarter of 2020 was $478 million.

United States & Other Countries

Back in 2016 the revenue from operations in United States was $1.34 billion in the first quarter. $1.41 billion in the second quarter, $1.44 billion in the third quarter and $1.57 billion in the last quarter. In 2017 revenue had gone up to $1.61 billion in the first quarter and $1.69 billion in the second quarter. Q3 and Q4 showed $1.74 billion and $2 billion respectively. Revenue then increased to $2.02 billion in the first quarter of 2018. $2.15 billion in the second quarter and $1.96 billion in the third quarter. Q4 showed $2.19 billion. Consequently, by 2019 revenue had increased to $2.19 billion in the first quarter, $2.30 billion in the second quarter, $2.33 billion in the third quarter and reached $2.61 billion by the end of the year. Revenue for the first quarter of 2020 was $2.47 billion.

Additionally, the remaining revenue from other countries was $894 million in the first quarter of 2016, $925 million in the second quarter, $933 million in the third quarter and crossed $1 billion by the end of the fourth quarter. Revenue in 2017 had increased to $1.06 billion in the first quarter, $1.11 billion in the second quarter, $1.15 billion in the third quarter and $1.30 billion in the last quarter. Revenue went up to $1.27 billion in the first quarter of 2018, $1.31 billion in the second quarter, $1.32 billion in the third quarter and reached $1.57 billion in the fourth quarter. In 2019 revenue had reached $1.51 billion in the first quarter, $1.55 billion in the second quarter, $1.60 billion in the third quarter and $1.83 billion by the end of the year. The first quarter revenue for 2020 was $1.67 billion.
