Direct sales customers

MongoDB believes that there is ample opportunity to grow their customer base from word-of-mouth awareness and frictionless experimentation through their Community Server offering. As a result, their direct sales prospects are likely to be familiar with their platform and may have already developed apps employing their technology. The Direct Sales Customer segment is the company’s second major customer segment. It comprises 11% of the end market and has increased from 2200 customers in Q2 2021 to 3300 customers in Q2 2022. In Q1 2022, this segment recorded 3000 customers.

MongoDB Atlas customers

MongoDB Atlas is a cloud-hosted database-as-a-service (“DBaaS”) that provides extensive Community Server infrastructure and management. The number of MongoDB Atlas clients sold by the company’s sales force has also increased. Customers that sign annual contracts and pay in advance or on a monthly basis are the most common type in this particular segment.

Mongo DB Inc has the largest customer base of MongoDB Atlas customers comprising of 85% of the end market in Q2 2022. This customer segment has witnessed an increase of 8500 customers in the current quarter as compared to the previous year. In Q2 2021, the number of customers recorded under this segment stood at 16800. In Q2 2022, this figure reached a number of 25300.

Customers over $100K

The number of customers with $100,000 or greater Annualized Recurring Revenue are recorded under this segment. MongoDB tracks annualised recurring revenue (“ARR”) to assist them track the success of their subscriptions. They define ARR as the amount of subscription income they expect to collect from their clients over the next 12 months, assuming no changes to their subscriptions.

The number of customers with Annualized Recurring Revenue greater than $100K was 1057 in the latest quarter of Q2 2022. In the previous quarter, this figure stood at 975. In Q2 2021, customers recorded under this segment were substantially lower, as there were only 780 customers with Annualized Recurring Revenue greater than $100K.
