Company Overview

McDonald’s Corporation is a chain of American fast-food restaurants, that was formed in 1940 as a restaurant in San Bernardino, California, by Richard and Maurice McDonald. In 1948, the brothers established the “Speedee Service System,” expanding on the foundations of modern fast-food restaurants. Ray Kroc, a businessman, joined the company as a franchise agent in 1955 and later went on to buy the McDonald brothers’ franchise.

McDonald’s used to be headquartered in Oak Brook, Illinois, but in June 2018, the company relocated its global headquarters to Chicago.

McDonald’s operates in 120 countries worldwide and serves more than 69 million customers per day.McDonald’s has the ninth-highest worldwide brand valuation as of 2020.

Burgers, various types of chicken, chicken sandwiches, French fries, soft drinks, breakfast dishes, and desserts are the most popular items sold at McDonald’s. McDonald’s offers salads, vegetarian options, wraps, and other regional specialties in most markets. McDonald’s sells the McRib sandwich on a seasonal basis. Some argue that McRib’s seasonality contributes to its popularity.
