This statistic highlights Lam Research’s Revenue Breakdown by Business Vertical, split across Foundry, Logic/integrated device manufacturing, and Memory, reported on a quarterly basis from Q1 2016 onwards.

Lam Research primarily serves three markets-integrated device manufacturing, foundry, and memory. These scale all seven geographic regions. For their geographic reporting, they attribute their profit to places in which the establishments of their customers are located. Their customer base includes foundry, logic/integrated device manufacturers (“IDMs”), and semiconductor memory, which make products alike as non-volatile memory (“NVM”), dynamic arbitrary-access memory (“DRAM”), and sense bias. Their uninterrupted success is part of our commitment to driving semiconductor advancements that define the coming generation.

Lam Research’s Revenue Breakdown

Lam Research’s revenue has been on an upward trend of late, with revenue rising with each quarter. In Q1 2022. its revenue amounted to $4.30 billion, marking a year-on-year growth of 35.64%. Its profit earned through 2021 was relatively higher than that in the previous years — this could be owed to high investments in semiconductor capital equipment by customers and major earnings from their Customer Support Business group for services, upgrades, spares, etc.

Business Vertical  Q1 2021  Q4 2021  Q1 2022 Revenue Mix by Business Vertical in Q1 2022
Foundry $1.14 $1.45 $1.08 25%
Logic/integrated device manufacturing $0.19 $0.25 $0.47 11%
Memory $1.84 $2.45 $2.76 64%
Total Revenue $3.17 $4.15 $4.30 100%

(All figures are in billions, except percentages)

Foundry

The semiconductor industry is cyclical and has historically accomplished periodic downturns and upturns. Present’s leading pointers of changes in customer investment patterns, such as electronics demand, memory pricing, and foundry utilization rates, may not be any further reliable than in preceding years.

Being the second-largest revenue market accounting for 25% of revenue in Q1 2022, the Foundry segment grossed $1.14 billion in Q1 2021. The revenue in the latest quarter declined to $1.08 billion, making a year-on-year decline of 5.26%. The quarterly drop was 25.5%, as compared to $1.45 billion in Q4 2021.

Logic/integrated device manufacturing

Logistics functions are the outsourcing contracts that give them further elasticity to measure their operations up or down in a timely and cost-effective manner, enabling them to respond speedily to any changes in their business.

This segment has shown a contribution of 11% to the total revenue of the company. The revenue in the latest quarter has shown an increase of $0.28 billion, from $0.19 billion in Q1 2021 to $0.47 billion in Q1 2022, making an increase of 147.36% on a year-on-year basis. It also grew by 88% on a quarter-on-quarter basis, as compared to $0.25 billion in Q4 2021.

Memory

The rearmost memory, sense, and imaging bias require extremely thin, highly conformal dielectric films for uninterrupted device performance improvement and scaling. For case, ALD films are critical for spacer-based multiple patterning schemes where the spacers help define critical confines, as well as for separating liners and gap-fill in high aspect proportion features, which have little tolerance for voids and even the smallest defect.

This segment proves to be the highest revenue contributor of all categories, accounting for 64% of the revenue in Q1 2022. On a year-on-year basis the revenue grew by 50%, from $1.84 billion in Q1 2021 to $2.76 billion in Q1 2022. On a quarterly basis, the revenue grew by 3.61% as compared to $2.45 billion in Q4 2021.
