This statistic highlights JFrog’s Net Dollar Retention Rate (NRR), reported on a quarterly basis from Q1 2020 onwards.

What is Net Dollar Retention Rate (NRR)?

Net dollar retention is defined as a percentage that represents how your annual recurring revenue has increased or decreased over a given period. It is determined by taking your initial annual recurring revenue (ARR), adding any new subscriptions and upgrades, deducting any churn, and dividing the result by the original ARR.

Net dollar retention (NDR), also known as net revenue retention (NRR), assesses how much annual recurring revenue (ARR) or monthly recurring revenue (MRR) has grown or declined over time, taking into account client expansion as well as negative churn and downgrades. It provides a comprehensive picture of how well the user retains, engages, and grows the existing customer base as a measure of the company’s overall health and viability.

Subscriptions drive SaaS businesses—the number of customers who commit to utilizing the product or service for a certain length of time (typically one year or longer). NDR is an important indicator for SaaS organizations since it gauges not just client retention, but also the ability to keep those customers engaged and deliver innovations that help them accomplish or exceed their business objectives.
