General Electric’s Revenue Breakdown by Segment

American multinational conglomerate General Electric reported total revenues of $ 121 billion in FY 2018. In FY 2019, the company’s total revenues were expected to fall by 23% primarily pulled by the power segment. Healthcare and aviation divisions, on the other hand, were estimated to gain traction in the current fiscal year.

The aviation segment underperformed in FY 2019 with a 5.94% decline QoQ in revenue during Q1. The best performing quarter in the past year was Q4 FY 2018 with a 13.05% rise QoQ. The capital division faced a decline of 9.65% in revenue from Q2 to Q3 FY 2019. In the previous year, there was a 1.81% increase QoQ in Q3 FY 2018.

The energy connections and lighting segment faced a 3.41% increase in revenue from the first to the second quarter of FY 2016. The healthcare segment also defied expectations with a 13.25% decline QoQ in the first quarter of FY 2019. This was preceded by a quarterly rise of 14.68% from Q3 to Q4 FY 2018. 

The lighting division saw a 17.14% rise from the third to the fourth quarter of FY 2018.  In Q4 FY 2017, there was a 13.14% rise from the previous quarter. In the first quarter of FY 2017 saw a decline of 20.89% from Q4 FY 2016.

General Electric’s oil and gas section witnessed a 10.23% rise in revenues from Q3 to Q4 FY 2018. This was followed by a 10.14% decline from Q4 FY 2018 to Q1 FY 2019. In the first quarter of FY 2018, there was a fall of 6.93% from the last quarter of FY 2017. 

Revenues from the power division faced a downtrend in the first three quarters of FY 2019. This was preceded by an all-time high increase of 48.28% from Q3 to Q4 FY 2018. Renewable energy generated 126.12% more revenue in Q2 FY 2019, compared to Q1. In Q2 FY 2018, there was a QoQ rise of 75.15%. In Q4 FY 2018, the transportation segment of GE faced a 23.61% increase in revenue from Q3. In Q4 FY 2017, there was a decline of 2.11% from Q3.
