Delta Airlines is an American company that runs passenger and cargo flights throughout the world. They serve around 352 destinations in more than 50 countries. Delta’s business consists of two chief segments – Airlines and Refinery. Most of its revenue comes from the airline segment.

The company operates from hubs in Amsterdam, Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, London, LA, New York, Salt Lake, Seoul, and Tokyo. The US market is it’s largest representing 70% of the total revenue. The company’s revenue in 2019 was about $47 billion compared to $35.7 billion in 2018. Passenger airlines are the majority part of the business and represent more than 85% of the company’s revenue.

Delta Airlines’ Passenger Revenue by Region

Its passenger revenue from the Pacific region was $568 million in the first quarter of 2017 and then increased to $578 million in the second quarter, $709 million in the third quarter, and then dropped to $559 million in the last quarter. Revenue increased in 2018 to $583 million in the first quarter, $642 million in the second quarter, $730 million in the third quarter, and $594 million in the fourth quarter. The revenue then fell slightly towards the end of  2019 to $583 million in the first quarter and then increased to $657 million in the second quarter before dropping to $696 million in the third quarter and $591 million by the end of the year.

Passenger revenue from Latin America was $793 million in the first quarter and then $658 million in the second quarter, $693 million in the third quarter, and $572 million in the fourth quarter. The revenue increased in 2018 to $830 million in the first quarter, $709 million in the second quarter dropped to $675 million in the third quarter and then increased to $659 million in the fourth quarter. Revenue continued to increase into 2019 to $855 million in the first quarter, $760 million in the second quarter, $683 million in the third quarter, and $703 million in the last quarter.

Passenger revenue from the Atlantic region was $923 million in the first quarter of 2017,$1.5 billion in the second quarter, $1.80 billion in the third quarter, and $1.18 billion in the fourth quarter. Revenue increased to $1.07 billion in the first quarter of 2018 and then went up to $1.78 billion in the second quarter, $2 billion in the third quarter, and $1.33 billion in the fourth quarter. The uptrend continued in 2019 and revenue increased to $1.10 billion in the first quarter, $1.88 billion in the second quarter, $2,06 billion in the third quarter, and $1.34 billion in the last quarter.

Domestic passenger revenue is the biggest source of revenue for the company. Revenue in the first quarter of 2017 was $5.89 billion and then went up to $6.49 billion in the second quarter, $6.78 billion in the third quarter, and $6.19 billion in the fourth quarter. Revenue increased further in 2018 to $6.28 billion in the first quarter,$7.41 billion in the second quarter, $7.40 billion in the third quarter, and $7.07 billion in the fourth quarter. The revenue for 2019 increased to $6.71 billion in the first quarter, $8.07 billion in the second quarter, $7.97 billion in the third quarter, and $7.61 billion in the last quarter.

Delta’s passenger revenue has been increasing for almost all regions year on year as well as quarter on quarter for the past 4 years. Revenue is expected to drop in 2020 due to a halt in operations on account of the coronavirus outbreak.
