This statistic highlights Broadcom’s Revenue by Region, split between the Americas, Asia Pacific, and EMEA, reported on a quarterly basis from Q1 2019 onwards.

Broadcom Inc. is one of the world’s top 20 semiconductor companies and offers a variety of semiconductor and infrastructure software solutions.

Broadcom’s Revenue by Region

The following table highlights Broadcom’s Revenue by region for Q3 2021, Q2 2021, and Q3 2020.

Region Q3 2020 Q2 2021 Q3 2021 Contribution for Q3 2021
Americas  $1.41  $1.52  $1.59 23.00%
Asia Pacific  $3.74  $4.23  $4.32 64.00%
EMEA  (Europe, Middle East, and Africa)  $0.67  $0.86  $0.87 13.00%
Total $5.82  $6.61  $6.78 100.00%

(All figures in billions, except percentages)

For Q3 2021, 23% of the revenue can be traced back to the Americas, whereas, the majority of total revenue that amounts to 64% is from the Asia Pacific. Also, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) contributed 13% of the total revenue. Broadcom’s total revenue grew from $5.82 billion in Q3 2020 to $6.78 billion in Q3 2021, marking a 16.5% increase on a year-on-year basis. The revenue also increased by 2.6% compared to $6.61 billion earned in Q2 2021.

Classification of revenue by region is based on the delivery location specified by distributors and customers. However, the delivery location and the location of the end consumers can vary. For instance, China accounted for nearly 35% of the net revenue but these products are either sold to end customers in different countries or used in making products that are then sold in different countries.

In the fiscal years 2021 and 2020, nearly 35% of the company’s net revenue was generated from shipments or deliveries to China and Hong Kong. However, the end customers for the company’s product or the end product, are located in countries other than China (and Hong Kong). This results in a substantially smaller percentage of the net revenue depending on the sales of the company’s product or the end product that incorporates the company’s product located in China and Hong Kong.

Global Operations of the Company

The company has manufacturing facilities located in the U.S. and Singapore. However, the facilities located in California and the Pacific Rim region are adversely affected by seismic activity and weather conditions. To maintain low costs, a majority of the production is outsourced to foundries spread across the globe. Broadcom has research and development personnel in various countries like India, Singapore, Israel, and the U.S. to avail expertise on a global level.

Most of the semiconductor products are designed in North America and Europe which are then manufactured in Asia. The company has strategically developed relationships with huge global and regional distributors from around the world to serve its customers.

The main warehouse of the company is located in Malaysia. The company has sales offices in various countries which enable the time-critical delivery of products. Dedicated regional customer support call centers help in addressing customer issues and handling logistics and order fulfillment.
