This statistic highlights Boeing’s Revenue by Segment, reported on a quarterly basis from Q1 2010 onwards.

Boeing is the world’s largest aerospace company, manufacturing commercial jetliners, defense, space and security systems, and service provider of aftermarket support. The company is based in the U.S. and supports airlines and allied government customers in more than 150 countries. Boeing products and services include commercial and military aircraft, satellites, weapons, electronic and defense systems, launch systems, advanced information and communication systems, and performance-based logistics and training. Boeing is organized into three business units- Commercial airplanes, defense, space and security, and Boeing global services. The revenue for Boeing in 2019 was about $76.55 billion. Boeing saw a drop in revenue from 2018 of about 24%.

Boeing has been a prime manufacturer of commercial airplanes for decades. Today, the company manufactures the 737, 747, 767, 777 and 787 families of airplanes and the Boeing Business Jet range. More than 10,000 Boeing manufactured commercial jets are in service today, which is almost half the overall world fleet. They also offer the most complete family of freighters and almost 90% of the world’s cargo is carried onboard Boeing aircraft. As of the first quarter of 2019 commercial airplanes contributed to about half of Boeing’s total revenue. This segment generally contributes about 40-60% of Boeing’s total revenue but in the second quarter of 2019 commercial airplanes formed only 30% of the total revenue and then went back to 41% in the third and fourth quarters. The revenue from commercial airplanes saw a decline in 2019 when compared to 2018 by almost 50%. Boeing recorder it’s a worst quarterly performance from commercial planes in the second quarter of 2019 with revenue of $4.72 billion, a drop from $11.82 billion in the previous quarter. In 2019, Boeing’s reputation, commercial business, and financial rating suffered after the 737 MAX was grounded worldwide following two fatal crashes. New product explorations include the Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner and 777X.

The Boeing defense, space, and security is a diversified organization providing design, support, and service for military aircraft, satellite, human space exploration, and autonomous systems. It helps customers address a host of requirements that include refueling aircraft, helicopters, etc. The revenue from this segment has been growing in recent years. BDS contributed to 28.85% of the total revenue in the first quarter of 2019. The second quarter saw a sharp rise in the revenue from BDS to about 42%. The first and second quarter of 2019 had a steady revenue of $6.1 billion and then went up to $7 billion in the third quarter before dropping back to $5.96 billion in the last quarter. This has been one of the steadier segments of Boeing. Boeing witnessed a drop in BDS revenue of about 1% as compared to 2018.

Being a leader in commercial and defense platforms, Boeing is able to provide unparalleled market support for mixed fleets worldwide. The global services platform of Boeing is by far it’s a most steady segment. It was introduced in 2016 and has been showing slow but steady growth. Revenues from this segment have been close to $4.6 billion throughout all the quarters of 2019. Boeing Global Services provide top of the class service regardless of the equipment’s original manufacturer.

The company continues to expand and innovate to meet its customer needs. 2019 saw a small decline in Boeing’s revenues, but the company is expected to make a turnaround in the coming few years.
