Boeing’s Revenue by Region (2010-2023)

This statistic highlights Boeing’s Revenue by Region, reported on a quarterly basis from Q1 2010 onwards.

Boeing is an American multinational company that designs, manufactures, and sells airplanes, rockets, satellites, telecommunication equipment, and missiles worldwide. They also provide leasing and product support services. Boeing is one of the largest global aerospace manufacturer and the second-largest defense contractor in the world. It is also the largest exporter in the United States by dollar value. Boeing has three distinct business units – Commercial airplanes. Defense, space and security, and Boeing global services.

Most of Boeing’s revenue comes from its commercial airplanes business. Boeing ended 2019 with a revenue of $76.55 billion, which was a 24.29% decline from the previous year. Boeing has seen declining revenue since the ending of 2018.

The United States accounted for almost 50% of Boeing’s revenue.  Being the domestic country U.S. has been Boeing’s leading customer throughout its years of operation. China, Europe, and the Middle East are some of Boeing’s other major customers. China alone accounted for almost 12-13% of Boeing’s revenue but that number saw a huge downfall in 2019 to around 6.7%. Demand for Boeing in Asian countries other than China has been fairly steady over the past 10 years.

Boeing saw a decline in revenue from almost all the customers that its servers in different locations.

Revenues’ from the U.S. dropped to $42.68 billion from $44.68 billion the previous year. Revenue from Oceania countries dropped to $2.03 billion from $2.30 billion in the previous year. Middle East revenues’ have been fairly stable but still saw a small drop from $9.74 billion in 2018 to $9.27 billion in 2019. Revenue from Latin America and the Caribbean also dropped to $1.02 billion. Revenue from European countries had a big drop of about $2.5 billion when compared to the previous year. Revenues from China saw a massive drop from $13.76 billion in 2018 to  $5.68 billion in 2019, registering a downfall of more than 50%. Canadian revenues’ also dropped to $2.02 billion. Revenues’ from Asian countries went down by approximately $1.5 billion and revenue from African countries also saw a downfall.

Boeing had a pretty bad 2019 after seeing a growth in 2018. A part of this downfall can be attributed to the crashes of the 777X model of Boeing. Boeing had seen a small decline between 2015 and 2017 but the growth in 2018 had investors being optimistic about its future. 2019 has been a major setback for the firm and 2020 doesn’t seem to be the year Boeing can turn around its business owing to the Covid-19 outbreak.
