(Figures in actual units)

It can be seen from the above table, that there was a drop in total aircraft deliveries between Q2 2020 and Q3 2020. Thereafter the deliveries picked up pace during Q4 2020 and maintained this upward trend during Q1 2021. The dip in total deliveries during Q2 2020 and Q3 2020 may be attributable to the disruptions caused by COVID-19.

A product-wise analysis of Boeing’s aircraft delivery is enumerated in the succeeding paragraphs.

  • Boeing 737 : Boeing 737 is one of the smallest commercial aircraft produced by Boeing, used for short and thinly populated routes.  The aircraft has a seating capacity of 143 seats. Boeing delivered 63 units of the 737 commercial aircraft during Q1 2021, which was a 103% increase compared to the previous quarter, where they delivered 31 units. Further, there was a 116 % increase as compared to Q1 2020, where only 5 units were delivered. Boeing 737 is the most delivered aircraft during Q1 2021, with about 82% of the total deliveries made by the company during the quarter. This increase in deliveries is especially impressive since it comes against the background of two fatal crashes of Lion Air Flight 610(2018) and Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302(2019) which killed a total of 340 people and led to a suspension in the production of its 737 MAX aircraft in January 2020.
  • Boeing 747 : Boeing 747 is a giant wide-body airliner, also called Jumbo Jet or Queen of the Skies.  During Q1 2021 Boeing could deliver only a single Boeing 747 aircraft, which was a 67% decrease compared to the Q4 2020 when 3 units were delivered. Further, during Q1 2020, the company was unable to deliver a single 747 aircraft. Boeing 747 was the least popular aircraft in the company’s portfolio, contributing only 1% of the total deliveries.
  • Boeing 767 : Boeing 767 is a 43-year-old. This aircraft was commercially flown for the first time in September 1982 by United Airlines. There was a fall of 50% in deliveries of Boeing 767 in Q1 2021 as compared to the preceding quarter since only 5 units were delivered in Q1 2021 against 10 units delivered during Q4 2020. However, a comparison between Q1 2020 and Q1 2021 reveals that the company delivered the same number of aircraft during both quarters. With 6% of the total deliveries in Q1 2021, Boeing 767, was the third most popular aircraft.
  • Boeing 777 : Boeing 777 is a 777 seater aircraft. Its maiden commercial flight was in June 1995. In Q1 2020  Boeing delivered 6 units of its 777 commercial aircraft, which is exactly the number of aircraft that the company delivered during Q1 2020. Further, there was a 45% decrease in deliveries compared to Q4 2020. Boeing 777 is the second most delivered aircraft, with about 8% of the total deliveries during the quarter.
  • Boeing 787 : Boeing 787 is the newest aircraft in Boeing’s product portfolio, which entered commercial service in October 2011. It is a 12-year-old aircraft. Only 2 units of its 787 commercial aircraft were delivered by Boeing in Q1 2021, which was a 50% decrease compared to Q4 2020, where they delivered 4 units and a 93% decrease compared to Q1 2020, where 29 units were delivered. Boeing 787 contributed 3% of the total deliveries during Q1 2021, making it the fourth most popular aircraft.
