Airbus’s Orders Intake and Deliveries Worldwide

The year 2017

The year was quite dicey for the company in the first three quarters. In the first quarter, new order activity was low, but Airbus has a healthy order book of over 6,700 commercial aircraft in its plate, which supports the ongoing production ramp-up. Order intake totaled € 3.8 billion, helping the ramp-up plans while net commercial aircraft orders amounted to six aircraft, with the backlog comprising 6,744 aircraft at the end of the quarter. The helicopter orders rose to 60, including 10 Super Puma family helicopters and 14 H145s. With deliveries of 136 aircraft, commercial aircraft’s revenues increased by 13 percent, including a higher proportion of A350 XWBs.

On the other hand, Helicopters’ revenues increased by 11 percent, with deliveries of 78 units. With the fluctuation in subsequent quarters, both orders and deliveries substantial shoots up. A total of 1,109 net commercial aircraft orders were received, while net helicopter orders totaled 335 units, including 48 Super Puma Family rotorcraft and 17 H175s. Commercial Aircraft delivered 718 aircraft comprising 558 A320 Family, 15 A380s, 67 A330s, and 78 A350 XWBs while Helicopters’ revenues were slightly lower with deliveries of 409 units.

The year 2018

The year started with a substantial drop in the first quarter and ended with a considerable boost in both orders and deliveries. In Q1, a total of 45 net commercial aircraft orders received with gross orders of 68 aircraft, including 20 A380s for Emirates Airlines. On the other hand, net helicopter orders increased to 104 units, including 10 H160s and 51 additional Lakota UH-72As for the US Army, bringing the total orders in the program above 450 helicopters. Airbus deliveries totaled 121 commercial aircraft, while Airbus Helicopters delivered 52 units, reflecting the deconsolidation of services business Vector Aerospace in late 2017. Following the streak, after some minor fluctuations, the orders and deliveries rocketed high. Net commercial aircraft orders totaled 747, showing the market’s underlying health, while Net helicopter orders increased to 381 units. A total of 800 commercial aircraft were delivered while Airbus Helicopters delivered 356 units with revenues stable YoY on a comparable basis despite the lower deliveries.

The year 2019

The year started with a substantial drop in both orders and deliveries, recording the lowest orders of all time in Q1. In the Q1, net commercial aircraft orders of -58, after 120 cancellations, mainly reflect the winding down of the A380 program—net helicopter orders of 66 units. A total of 162 commercial aircraft were delivered, while Airbus Helicopters delivered 46 units. With consistent growth in subsequent quarters, the last quarter recorded net commercial aircraft orders to 768 aircraft, while Airbus Helicopters achieved 310 net orders in the year. A record 863 commercial aircraft were delivered, while Airbus Helicopters recorded stable revenues that offset lower deliveries of 332 rotorcraft.
